Thor started blowing glass in 1979 while growing up in
southern California. Studying with Italo Scanga he received a BFA from
University of California at San Diego and an MFA from Alfred University. As a
founding member of The B Team, Thor received a “Tiffany” from the Louis Comfort
Tiffany Foundation and a “Bessie” from the The New York Dance Theater Workshop.
He atended Pitchuck Glass School as a scholarship student, teaching assistant,
artist assistant, visiting artist, staff member, and an instructor in 2006 when
he taught a hot glass painting class. Thor’s work ranges from
functional-decorative, object as sculpture, to installation and performance
based arworks. Recently, Thor completed a three year residencey at Penland
School of Crafts.
